And You Thought You Had Bad Neighbors....

I received this in an e-mail today. Of course, I "snoped" it out at Snopes.com, and it is true, except the email I got said it was an event in Wales, but the snopes article says it occured in Utah.

Apparently what happened was one neighbor built his house a bit higher than the city ordinances allowed. He was forced to lower his roof at a considerable remodeling cost, so he got back at his neighbors by designing a ventilation cover that was supposed to be an "abstract cactus" That's pretty much how the e-mail ended.

So I went to Snopes and got, as Paul Harvey uaed to say, "the rest of the story." Apparently the feud had extended back even further than just the zoning ordinance. I can't tell from the way the article is written if the offending neighbor was just being belligerent or the complaining neighbors were just instigating anything that would make the new neighbor move.

Either way, here are the pics. The e-mail left off with the statement that nothing could be done since the vents were in regulation. But snopes verifies that the neighbor actually volunteered to take it down if his neighbors apologized, which they did and he did. but still, you gotta admire the chutzpah of the guy. At least I do.
